Is it a Baby Dinosaur?

So, I was recently reprimanded, and deservingly so, about not announcing to a very important friend about my up and coming baby! Yes, we're expecting!! Yippeee!! It took us far too long and now it's FINALLY here. I'm finding that I'm living in the moment and forgetting to share my news. So sorry to all of you who are just hearing now. My real excuse is that I told my mom.... and being that she is no secret-keeper, I figured everyone already knew. (Grandmas, you know, are great at sharing good news.)

I had marked on my calender that we would find out the gender on August 17th, but after going to my doctor appointment all hyped and ready to hear which it will be, I was told (in a very ungentle manner) that I was only there for blood work and would have to wait until August 24th. "Excuse me?" (this is my new shock-and-awe response these days)! By August 24th I will be 22 weeks along.... COME ON MAN!!

Ok, Ok, I know that just a few generations ago every expecting mother had to wait until delivery day to get any information, gender included. But this is the 21st century and, call me spoiled, but I like knowing. I think it's a surprise to find out any information anytime you get it. Therefore, I like knowing what I'm having. There is still plenty to see on delivery day: Bald or hairy, hair color, eye color, weight, length, nose shape, looks that resemble mom or daddy's side? New babies are so entertaining I could stare at one all day anyway. WOW... see I still have all these other unanswered questions to learn later. But it's just plain torture to tell me, " Circle this date and we'll tell you gender," and then.... "Nope, wait a little longer." Who does that to an already emotional and pregnant woman? You want tears, huh?

I'm attempting to get over it, and blogging about it has already relieved a big portion of my disappointment. But, trust me, on August 24th I'll be camping at the doctor's office and I don't think I'll be leaving without knowing what we're having... stay tuned cause that means two blog-postings in one month's time...AMAZING!

So, I'm guessing that after having survived all this ranting from me, if your still reading it's because your thinking: What's with the dinosaur? Well, here's your answer...
J.P. and I are having too much fun with this new baby coming and watching how Sugar is responding to all this. We ask her all sorts of questions and laugh and laugh about her response:

Where do babies come from?
Sugar: "Babies come from the circus."

Why is mommy's tummy getting bigger?
Sugar: "She eats too much Ice cream." (true... and it's the only thing that tastes good to me).

What should we name the baby?
Sugar: "How about Pine cone the-little-sweet Baby?"

... And is that a boy or girl name?
Sugar: "Both"

Do you want a baby brother or a baby sister?
Sugar: "I'd rather have a baby dinosaur than a baby brother."

....I think I'll take a girl if my options are dinosaur or girl.

Congrats! I'm so excited for you! I have the 24th marked to check your blog! So please update! I'm pretty sure if I would have recieved that kind of news at the Drs I would have ran over to Cold Stone just to relieve my anger and to bring just a little bit of enjoyment for the day. Good Luck and hang in there, it's only a few more days! I can't believe your already 22 wks. You're not that far behind me! I think I'm at 28 wks and really do believe I might be having a baby dinosaur!
